Yosemite from the Sky (updated 7/18/2007)

Yosemite is quite recognizable from eight miles in the sky and 40-50 miles downrange.


This shot, taken July 17, 2007, shows yosemite in the foreground and Mono Lake in the distance.

Night sky


In the hour or so just before dawn, this star trail was taken. The Big Dipper is in the center. Polaris, the North Star, is to the upper left. The exposure time was limited to 8 minutes by the equipment I'm using.
